Authenticated root command execution via unsanitized key
Published May 4, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Command injection in TP-Link NC260 1.5.2 build 200304 and NC450 1.5.3 build 200304 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands as root. The httpSetEncryptKeyRpm handler for /setEncryptKey.fcgi inserts the user-controlled EncryptKey parameter directly into an echo command executed by the ipcamera process without sanitization. Authentication to the camera web interface is required, after which injected commands run with root privileges and can read, alter, or disrupt the device.
