Reflected XSS via unencoded search breadcrumb output
Published Apr 23, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Reflected XSS in Catch Breadcrumb before 1.5.4 allows remote attackers to execute script via a crafted WordPress search query. The plugin places the s search parameter into breadcrumb output without context-appropriate encoding, so browser-interpreted markup reaches the response. Exploitation requires a user to follow a crafted search URL; script then runs in the affected site's browser origin and can read or alter page-accessible data.
