CVE-2020-12040Network attack vector

Network data interception via unauthenticated clear-text protocol

Published Jun 29, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Clear-text communication in Baxter SIGMA SPECTRUM Infusion System 6.x and 8.x allows remote attackers to intercept operational data. The Wireless Battery Module exchanges infusion-delivery status and operational data with Baxter Gateway through an application-layer protocol that provides neither encryption nor authentication. Attackers must first gain access to the supporting network; exposed data excludes passwords and protected health information, and the reported effect is observation or man-in-the-middle interception.
