CVE-2020-12033Known exploitation

Unauthenticated code execution via unvalidated COM identifiers

Published Jun 23, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Improper input validation in Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk Services Platform, all versions, allows attackers to execute code with elevated privileges. The RdcyHost.exe redundancy host service accepts supplied identifiers without validating them and uses them to instantiate remote COM objects. Exploitation requires unauthenticated access from an adjacent network and runs those COM objects with the service's elevated privileges.
