Arbitrary file overwrite via unvalidated ViewSrv path
Published May 8, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Relative path traversal in Advantech WebAccess/SCADA 8.4.4 and earlier and 9.0.0 allows remote authenticated users to overwrite files. ViewSrv.dll IOCTL 0x0000277d uses an unvalidated user-supplied path in file operations, permitting writes outside application-controlled directories. CISA requires low privileges and user interaction, while ZDI reports no authentication or interaction and Administrator-context code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
