CVE-2020-12010Network attack vector

Authenticated arbitrary file deletion via path traversal

Published May 8, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Relative path traversal in Advantech WebAccess/SCADA 8.4.4 and earlier and 9.0.0 allows remote authenticated users to delete arbitrary files. IOCTL 0x2711 invokes BwPFile.exe without validating a user-supplied path before file operations, permitting traversal outside application-controlled directories. CISA's assessment requires authenticated access and user interaction; deletion occurs with Administrator process privileges and can interrupt the service.
