Administrator code execution via unvalidated IOCTL inputs
Published May 8, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Path traversal and command injection in Advantech WebAccess/SCADA 8.4.4 and earlier and 9.0.0 allow remote attackers to execute code. DATACORE.exe IOCTL 0x0000791e uses an unvalidated path in file operations, while ViewSrv.dll and DrawSrv.dll IOCTL 0x00002711 pass unvalidated strings to system calls. Network access requires no authentication, and successful exploitation runs code with Administrator privileges and can overwrite files outside the application's control.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=WebAccess Node Version 8.4.4 and prior, WebAccess Node Version 9.0.0
