Unauthenticated code execution via BwBacNetJ buffer overflow
Published May 8, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in Advantech WebAccess/SCADA 8.4.4 and earlier and 9.0.0 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code. The BwBacNetJ driver copies user-supplied data into a fixed-length stack buffer without first validating its length. No authentication is required, and successful exploitation runs code with Administrator privileges on the WebAccess Node.
