Authenticated root command execution via eventscript upload
Published May 28, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
OS command injection in VIVOTEK Network Cameras allows remote authenticated users to execute commands through an uploaded event script. The /cgi-bin/admin/eventscript.cgi upload handler accepts an event XML process value and passes it to the camera's shell when the event triggers. Valid web-interface credentials and network reachability are required; successful exploitation starts a root command session on the camera.
