Privilege escalation via Feedback extension file validation
Published May 21, 2020 · Updated Aug 19, 2026
Improper input validation in Microsoft Edge before 83.0.478.37 allows remote attackers to write files to arbitrary locations. The Feedback extension accepts attacker-controlled file input without adequately validating the destination before performing the write. Successful privilege elevation requires chaining with other flaws because this issue alone does not execute arbitrary code.
