CVE-2020-11901Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated code execution via malformed DNS responses

Published Jun 17, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Remote code execution in the Treck TCP/IP stack before 6.0.1.66 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted DNS response. In the documented CNAME variant, the resolver allocates from RDLENGTH but copies the full decompressed name, overflowing the heap. Exploitation requires the device to process an attacker-supplied or spoofed DNS reply; successful corruption grants code execution in the device context.
