CVE-2020-11875

Local privilege escalation via mishandled kernel exceptions

Published Apr 17, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Improper exception handling in the MTK kernel on LG Android 8.0 through 10.0 devices allows local users to gain elevated privileges. The MTK kernel mishandles exceptions, but LG has not published the affected handler, triggering input, or incorrect operation. A local low-privileged context on an LG device with an MTK chipset is required; successful exploitation raises privileges within the device.
