Information disclosure via unchecked stock-object index
Published May 11, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Out-of-bounds access in libEMF 1.0.11 and earlier allows local users to disclose memory by opening a crafted EMF file. GLOBALOBJECTS::find masks the high bit of a stock-object handle, then indexes the global object vector without verifying that the resulting index is within its size. Exploitation requires the crafted file to be processed; the demonstrated failure is a memory-access violation, and the upstream advisory identifies information disclosure as the impact.
