Elevated code execution via improper memory handling
Published May 21, 2020 · Updated Aug 19, 2026
Elevation of privilege in Microsoft Windows State Repository Service allows local users to run arbitrary code in an elevated context. The service improperly handles in-memory objects, but Microsoft has not disclosed the object type or faulty memory operation. A local low-privilege user must run a specially crafted application on the affected system; successful exploitation grants elevated code execution without user interaction.
