Elevated code execution via mishandled memory objects
Published May 21, 2020 · Updated Aug 19, 2026
Elevation of privilege in Microsoft Windows State Repository Service allows local users to execute arbitrary code in an elevated context. The service improperly handles in-memory objects supplied through a specially crafted local application; Microsoft has not disclosed the responsible file, function, or memory operation. A user must already have low-privilege local code-execution access, and successful exploitation grants elevated code execution without user interaction.
