CVE-2020-1181Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated code execution via unrestricted WikiContentWebpart markup

Published Jun 9, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Remote code execution in Microsoft SharePoint 2010 SP2, 2013 SP1, 2016, and 2019 allows remote authenticated users to run code. WikiContentWebpart passes attacker-controlled ASP.NET markup to ParseControl under permissive ghosted-page settings, allowing dangerous controls to invoke arbitrary methods. Exploitation requires Add and Customize Pages permission, which site owners receive by default, and runs code as the web application service account.
