Credential disclosure via invalid certificate acceptance
Published Apr 23, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Improper certificate validation in MailStore Outlook Add-in through 12.1.2 allows remote attackers to obtain login credentials via man-in-the-middle interception. The login process accepts arbitrary or self-signed server certificates instead of validating TLS/SSL certificate validity. Exploitation requires Standard Authentication so credentials traverse the network; Windows Authentication risk depends on Kerberos policy, and the demonstrated impact is credential confidentiality.
