CVE-2020-11799Public exploit

Cross-user code execution via globally editable tasks

Published Apr 15, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Improper access control in Z-Cron 5.6 Build 04 allows local users to execute code with another user's privileges via task edits. Z-Cron exposes scheduled tasks globally and permits an unprivileged account to replace the program executed by a task that retains its creator's stored credentials. Exploitation requires local access and an existing privileged task; the next scheduled run executes the substituted program as that privileged user, and a shared path can trigger shells for every signed-in user.
