Code execution via crafted-content use-after-free
Published Apr 17, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Use-after-free in WebKitGTK and WPE WebKit before 2.28.1 allows remote attackers to execute code or crash applications via crafted web content. The projects have not disclosed the affected code locus or the lifetime error that leaves freed memory reachable during content processing. A user or embedding application must process attacker-controlled web content; successful exploitation runs code in the affected process or terminates it.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
