Stored script execution via uploaded filename
Published Apr 12, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stored XSS in Open Upload 0.4.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute script in a user's browser through an uploaded filename. The upload path accepts a filename containing HTML or JavaScript and later renders that stored value on file-link and administrative listings without neutralization. Exploitation requires a user to open the attacker-uploaded file link or an administrator to browse the file listing; the script then runs in that viewer's Open Upload origin.
