Unauthenticated administrative control via exposed API ports
Published Apr 12, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Improper access control in Kong's Docker Compose template through 2.0.3 allows remote attackers to administer Kong via exposed API ports. The template publishes Admin API ports 8001 and 8444 on every host interface, permitting unauthenticated requests with full configuration control. Exposure requires the development template without network restrictions; Kong disputes the CVE because no Gateway release or Docker image is intrinsically affected.
