Privilege escalation via unrestricted EXECUTE event messages
Published Apr 12, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Privilege escalation in ProVide through 13.1 allows remote attackers to execute programs with elevated rights via SetUserInfo. The /ajax/SetUserInfo handler accepts untrusted messages as EXECUTE() event content, allowing configured events to launch supplied programs. No authentication or user interaction is required, and successful exploitation runs attacker-selected programs.
