Authenticated data modification via unchecked administrator POST requests
Published Jun 4, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Missing authorization in Castel NextGen DVR 1.0.0 allows remote authenticated users to alter administrator-managed data via crafted POST requests. Administrator POST handlers execute requested changes without checking the session for the administrator role, even though GET navigation blocks normal users from those pages. A normal account is sufficient to modify users, alerts, the file store, and other administrator-controlled application data.
