CVE-2020-11652Known exploitationPublic exploitNetwork attack vector

Arbitrary filesystem access via unvalidated path joins

Published Apr 30, 2020 · Updated Oct 21, 2025

Path traversal in SaltStack Salt before 2019.2.4 and 3000 before 3000.2 allows remote authenticated users to access arbitrary directories. The localfs token reader and wheel configuration and file-root functions join attacker-controlled names to restricted roots without canonical containment checks. A valid Salt token is required; exploitation reads or writes files accessible to the salt-master account.
