Code execution via intercepted unvalidated updates

Published Jun 11, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Improper update validation in Mids' Reborn Hero Designer 2.6.0.7 allows man-in-the-middle attackers to execute code. Hero Designer retrieves update.xml and its referenced ZIP over HTTP, then accepts downloaded executables without integrity validation.
