Code execution via intercepted unvalidated updates
Published Jun 11, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Improper update validation in Mids' Reborn Hero Designer 2.6.0.7 allows man-in-the-middle attackers to execute code. Hero Designer retrieves update.xml and its referenced ZIP over HTTP, then accepts downloaded executables without integrity validation. An attacker must intercept and alter the update connection; the malicious binary runs with the application user's privileges.
