Username enumeration via divergent authentication responses
Published Apr 8, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Observable discrepancy in Argo CD 1.5.0 allows remote attackers to enumerate valid local account usernames through the session API. The session manager returned NotFound for an unknown username but Unauthenticated for a valid username with a wrong password, producing HTTP 404 and 401 responses. No authentication or user interaction is required; only non-SSO accounts are exposed, and disclosure is limited to username validity.
