Cleartext password disclosure via configuration file
Published Apr 7, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Insufficiently protected credentials in NCH Express Invoice 7.25 allow local users to read cleartext passwords from a configuration file. The application stores web-account records in a locally readable Accounts or WebAccounts file, and the password value can be extracted directly without decryption. Access requires a local low-privilege account; disclosed credentials can enable account takeover and broader service access, while the record does not establish remote exploitation.
