Client-memory disclosure via unclamped rectangle count
Published May 15, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in FreeRDP after 1.0 through 2.0.0-rc4 allows remote attackers controlling an RDP server to read client memory. The update_read_delta_rects parser clamps a DELTA_RECT count above 45 only in a local variable, leaving the order's original count to drive later GDI array reads. A FreeRDP client must process a crafted multi-rectangle drawing order from the remote endpoint; the bounded impact is client-memory disclosure or a client crash.
