Unauthenticated redirect creation via unprotected REST endpoint
Published Apr 7, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Missing authorization in Rank Math for WordPress 1.0.40.2 and earlier allows remote attackers to create arbitrary redirect URIs. The rankmath/v1/updateRedirection route omits a permission_callback, and update_redirection saves attacker-controlled source and destination parameters. No authentication is required; the Redirections module must be enabled, and created rules can divert visitors from existing content other than the homepage.
