Administrator script execution via unchecked template import
Published Apr 7, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stored XSS in WP Lead Plus X 0.98 and earlier allows remote attackers to run JavaScript in an administrator's browser through a template upload. The c37_wpl_import_template admin-post handler exposes an unauthenticated action and passes uploaded file contents to Template_Manager::importTemplateFromString without nonce or capability checks. Execution requires a licensed site administrator to select the imported template when creating a page; the stored script then runs in that administrator session.
