Administrator impersonation via unauthorized app configuration
Published Apr 1, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Missing authorization in Deskpro before 2019.8.0 allows remote authenticated users to impersonate administrators through application APIs. The /api/apps/* endpoints accept low-privilege requests to read and alter helpdesk application configurations, including JWT user-source secrets. A normal account can expose or enable JWT authentication, forge a token for any user, and gain administrator access; broader code execution requires chaining a separate flaw.
