Service interruption via NOA IE arithmetic overflow
Published Feb 22, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Arithmetic overflow in Qualcomm Snapdragon WLAN firmware allows remote attackers to interrupt service via a crafted NOA IE. The closed-source firmware mishandles an error while processing the Notice of Absence information element, allowing arithmetic to overflow. Reachability requires delivery of the malformed wireless element to an affected chipset; public sources do not identify the exact crashing operation or recovery behavior.
