Remote denial of service via RTCP memory leak
Published Apr 7, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Memory leakage in RTCP SDES processing in Qualcomm Snapdragon platforms allows remote attackers to interrupt service with crafted packets. The RTCP parser frees only the final SDES report buffer when a packet contains multiple reports, leaving the remaining allocations unreleased. No authentication or user interaction is required; repeated crafted RTCP traffic can exhaust memory and interrupt the affected service.
