Directory deletion and mail relay via object deserialization
Published May 13, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Insecure deserialization in TYPO3 CMS 9.0.0 through 9.5.16 and 10.0.0 through 10.4.1 allows remote attackers to delete directories or relay email. Core ext:core passes malicious user-submitted content to PHP's unserialize(), allowing attacker-controlled object attributes to invoke class-destructor side effects. Exploitation requires another insecure-deserialization flaw; deletion is limited to directories writable by the web server, while email uses the site's identity.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=>= 10.0.0, < 10.4.2
