Server code execution via rerendered form fields
Published May 7, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Server-side template injection in Barrel Strength Design Sprout Forms before 3.9.0 allows attackers to execute Twig code. The Mailer component passes an email body containing user-controlled form values to Craft's renderObjectTemplate function, which evaluates embedded Twig expressions. Reachability requires a notification template that displays form fields; successful payloads can read configuration data or execute server-side commands.
