Stored script execution via unsanitized Markdown preview
Published May 5, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stored XSS in the Markdown preview in Requarks Wiki.js before 2.3.81 allows remote authenticated users to execute script in another editor's browser. The editor-markdown.vue input handler assigns md.render output directly to previewHTML without sanitizing it, so crafted page Markdown becomes executable preview DOM. Both users need page-write access, and the payload runs only when the victim opens the malicious page in the Markdown editor, not in the rendered page.
