Display corruption via unchecked RFX tile lengths
Published May 29, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in FreeRDP 2.0.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to corrupt client display output via malformed RFX data. In rfx_process_message_tileset, tile block and Y, Cb, and Cr lengths were used to advance the input stream without bounding each tile to its declared block or validating every seek. Exploitation requires a client to connect to a manipulated RDP server with RFX or GFX enabled; the documented consequence is garbage colors on screen, not memory disclosure or code execution.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
