Script execution via htmlPrefilter tag rewriting

Cross-site scripting in jQuery 1.12.0 through 3.4.1 allows remote attackers to execute script via untrusted HTML passed to DOM methods. The htmlPrefilter method rewrites self-closing tags with a regular expression before parsing, which can transform sanitized markup into executable HTML. Exploitation requires an application to pass attacker-controlled HTML into an affected DOM manipulation method and a user to render the resulting content.
