Authorization header disclosure via cross-host redirects

Published Apr 29, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

Information disclosure in GitHub @actions/http-client before 1.0.8 allows attackers to obtain Authorization headers via cross-host redirects. HttpClient reused the original headers when preparing a redirected request without comparing hostnames and deleting the case-insensitive Authorization field. Exposure requires a request carrying an Authorization header, a 302 response, and a redirect to a different hostname; the destination receives the credential.
