Stored XSS via unescaped StreamField comparisons
Published Apr 14, 2020 · Updated Nov 19, 2024
Stored XSS in Wagtail before 2.7.2 and 2.8.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute script through page revision comparisons. The StreamField BlockComparison.htmlvalue path returned editor-supplied block rendering as HTML without extracting and escaping its text. A limited-permission editor must craft a revision and a higher-privileged admin user must view the comparison, enabling actions with that viewer's credentials.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
