CVE-2020-1099Network attack vector

Authenticated XSS via unsanitized web request

Published May 21, 2020 · Updated Aug 19, 2026

Cross-site scripting in SharePoint Server 2016 and 2019 allows remote authenticated users to execute script through a crafted web request. SharePoint's request-processing path fails to sanitize attacker-controlled request data before returning it in browser-rendered content; Microsoft has not identified a more specific handler or parameter. Exploitation requires SharePoint authentication and victim interaction, and the script runs in the victim's security context to read unauthorized content, act as that user, change permissions, delete content, or inject browser content.
