Local privilege escalation via mishandled kernel objects
Published May 21, 2020 · Updated Aug 19, 2026
Elevation of privilege in the Windows Kernel in affected Windows 10 and Windows Server releases allows local users to execute code with elevated permissions. Microsoft discloses only that the kernel mishandles objects in memory and does not identify the affected object type, code path, or incorrect operation. Exploitation requires a locally authenticated user to run a specially crafted application and can grant elevated control over the host.
