Local privilege escalation to arbitrary code execution
Published May 21, 2020 · Updated Aug 19, 2026
Memory-handling flaw in Microsoft Windows Runtime allows local users to execute arbitrary code in an elevated context via a crafted application. Microsoft states only that Windows Runtime mishandles objects in memory and has not disclosed the object type, code locus, or incorrect memory operation. Exploitation requires low-privilege local access to run the crafted application; success grants elevated execution with confidentiality, integrity, and availability impact.
