Kernel memory corruption via unchecked buffer length
Published Mar 24, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Stack overflow in the kperfmon driver on Samsung mobile devices with Android 9.0 or 10.0 allows local users to corrupt kernel stack memory. The driver fails to enforce a proper boundary check on kernel-buffer length, allowing an overlong value to overflow its stack. Reachability requires local low-privileged access, and Samsung has not published a more specific consequence.
