CVE-2020-10799Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Local file disclosure via external entity resolution

Published Mar 20, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

XML external entity injection in svglib 0.9.3 and earlier allows attackers to read local files through crafted SVG input to svg2rlg. The load_svg_file parser enables lxml entity resolution by default, so a SYSTEM entity URI is dereferenced and its contents are inserted into the rendered drawing. Exploitation requires an application to pass attacker-controlled SVG content to svg2rlg; the disclosed proof of concept exposes the selected file contents.
