CVE-2020-10789Network attack vector

Remote command execution via mishandled shell metacharacters

Published Mar 25, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024

OS command injection in openITCOCKPIT before 3.7.3 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands through the web terminal. SudoMessageInterface.php passes terminal input through an incomplete metacharacter denylist, concatenates it inside a quoted su -c string, and executes the resulting shell command. No authentication or user interaction is required; injected commands run as the configured Nagios user and can read, modify, or interrupt host data and services.
