Information disclosure in Linux Kernel userspace core dumps allows local users to read private kernel data from a crashed process. In fs/binfmt_elf.c, fill_thread_core_info() allocates register-set buffers with kmalloc(), and short writes leave heap bytes uninitialized in ELF core notes. A local account that can generate and access a core dump is required; disclosed bytes can reveal prior process or kernel state and help defeat KASLR.
