Host-memory disclosure via unchecked crypto key lengths
Published May 19, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in DPDK vhost-crypto 18.11 and later allows local users to disclose host memory through a crafted session request. The transform_cipher_param and transform_chain_param functions accepted guest-controlled cipher and HMAC key lengths without checking them against their fixed payload buffers. Exploitation requires control of a guest or container connected to the vhost-user backend; oversized lengths cause processing beyond the supplied key buffers.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
