Reflected XSS via unencoded exception parameter
Published May 27, 2021 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Cross-site scripting in Red Hat RESTEasy before 3.11.1.Final and before 4.5.3.Final allows remote attackers to execute script via a query value. StringParameterInjector inserts an unencoded parameter value into the RESTEASY003870 extraction-error message, which an HTML 404 error page renders as markup. Exploitation requires a REST endpoint whose parameter conversion fails and a victim who opens the crafted URL; successful exploitation runs script in that victim's browser.
