Browser script execution via reflected settingId
Published Mar 19, 2020 · Updated Aug 4, 2024
Reflected XSS in the Canon Océ ColorWave 500 web application 4.0.0.0 allows remote attackers to execute script via a crafted settingId value. The settingDialogContent.jsp page returns the untrusted settingId parameter in its HTML response without the output neutralization needed to prevent script interpretation. Exploitation requires a user to follow the crafted request, and successful script execution can read or modify browser-accessible data in the printer application's origin.
